BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - A few notes from the Bowling Green-Minnesota football game Saturday night (Sept. 6) ...
* Saturday marked the first time a Big Ten Conference school had visited Bowling Green's Doyt Perry Stadium and the first time a BCS opponent has played at "The Doyt" since 2002 when the Falcons hosted the Missouri Tigers (Sept. 14, 2002).
* Falcon quarterback Tyler Sheehan completed 29 of 44 passes for 261 yards on the night ... he completed passes to no fewer than 10 different receivers.
* Sheehan completed 15 of his first 18 attempts on the night, finding seven different receivers in the first quarter alone.
* BGSU defensive lineman Diyral Briggs had a career-high three sacks on the night, for 14 yards in losses.
* After recording two sacks in last Saturday's win at Pittsburgh, Briggs has matched his total for all of the 2007 season.
* Nick Iovinelli landed a punt on the two-yard line for the second time this season with his 38-yard boot in the second quarter that was downed before reaching the end zone ... in week one at Pitt, Iovinelli had a 79-yard punt -- a career long, and tied for the third-longest punt in school history -- downed at the Panthers' two-yard line.
* Anthony Turner's second quarter rushing touchdown was his second rushing touchdown of the season and the 19th of his career.
* Angelo Magnone had a career-high seven tackles in the game ... his total included a tackle for loss.
* Roger Williams had six kickoff returns for 87 yards vs. the Gophers, in the process moving up both BGSU career lists ... Williams moved from sixth to third in career KORs, with 54 ... he is one behind second-place Joe Alls (55 from 1999-2002) ... Reggie Thornton (65 from 1986-89) holds the record.
* Williams now has a total of 1,214 yards on kickoff returns, moving past Alls (1,147) into second place on that list ... in fact, with nine more yards, Williams will surpass Thornton (1,222) to set the school career record in that category.
* Chris Wright's 27-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter was his first TD grab of the year and the fourth of his career.
* Many of the game's statistics were very even ... both the Falcons and Minnesota had 22 first downs ... both teams had nine first downs rushing and 13 passing ... the Gophers had a slim 397-389 lead in total offense ... but, the Falcons had five turnovers to UM's zero.
* Minnesota now leads BGSU, 2-1-0, in the all-time series between the teams, and avenged the Falcons' 32-31 overtime win in Minneapolis last season.
