CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University women's basketball sophomore Lauren Prochaska has been named the Mid-American Conference's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The announcement was made by the league office on Friday (Jan. 23). Prochaska earns the honor for the first time in her career.
Prochaska, a native of Plain City, Ohio (Jonathan Alder H.S.), averaged a team-high 25.0 points along with 5.0 rebounds per game as the Falcons posted a pair of wins last week. She exploded for 32 points, tying her career high and falling just three points shy of the school record, as the Falcons defeated Miami, 87-79, on Wednesday, Jan. 14. She also tied her career best with five three-point field goals made in that game, and went 13-of-14 from the free-throw line. Prochaska had a pair of blocked shots in the win over the RedHawks to match that career best.

On the week, Prochaska shot 55.0 percent (11-for-20) from the field, including a 7-for-13 (53.8%) week from three-point range in the two games. She was a stellar 21-of-22 (95.5%) at the free-throw line. Her final point of the Akron game was the 800th of her young career.
On the year, Prochaska is now averaging 17.4 points and 5.7 rebounds after Wednesday's (Jan. 21) 75-52 win over Buffalo. She now has 816 points in her stellar Falcon career.
Prochaska, a sport enterprise major, maintains a 3.06 cumulative grade point average.
The Falcons, after that win over Buffalo, are now 16-2 overall and a perfect 5-0 in the MAC. BGSU has won 16 consecutive games after starting the season with an 0-2 record. The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller play three of the next four contests on the road, beginning with Saturday's (Jan. 24) game at Eastern Michigan. Tipoff is 2:)0 p.m. at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti, Mich.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to one MAC male and one female student-athlete each week. Candidates must be of sophomore standing or higher, have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better and have performed well during the prior week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
