BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University women's gymnastics head coach Kerrie Beach has announced the team's schedule for the 2009-2010 season. The Falcons will take on 10 regular-season meets, including a meet versus a Big East team and a tri meet with Big Ten opponents.
”We look forward to a challenging schedule this 2010 season,” stated head coach Kerrie Beach. “Beyond our MAC opponents, we will visit top ranked programs at University of Michigan and West Virginia University. Every meet will help us to prepare for the championship schedule at the end of the season.”
The Falcons, who finished fourth at the Mid-American Conference Championship last season, slate includes 11 regular season meets. BGSU will compete in five non-conference and six conference meets.
BGSU gymnastics will open their season Sunday, January 17th in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Orange and Brown will face Michigan and Iowa, in a tri meet.
The Falcons' away schedule includes two road trips. BGSU will head on a three meet road trip in Michigan, Illinois and Indiana. First, the Orange and Brown will compete in a conference meet against Western Michigan (Jan. 31). After, BGSU will travel to Chicago, Illinois for a meet against the University of Illinois Chicago (Feb. 6). The Falcons will end their first road trip versus Ball State in their third conference meet of the season on Feb. 14.
The Orange and Brown's second road trip includes a tri meet against Western Michigan and University of Illinois Chicago (Feb. 28), a nonconference versus West Virginia (Mar. 6) and wrapping up their away schedule against 2009 MAC Championships Kent State (Mar. 14).
BGSU's home schedule consist of three conference meets in Anderson Arena against Northern Illinois (Jan. 24), Eastern Michigan (Feb. 21) and Central Michigan (Mar 21).
The Falcons will also be hosting the 2010 MAC Championships in Anderson Arena on March 27th.
“The highlight will be hosting the MAC Championship in front of our home crowd in March,” said Beach. “We are really looking to build on the momentum we gained at last year's MAC Championship and we will make every effort to win in front of our fans in Anderson Arena. Every practice is a step towards success this season and we have the right athletes, led by senior all-around Breanne Guy, to have a winning year.”
