DAY ONE PLAYER STANDINGS
DAY ONE INDIVIDUAL RESULTS, BY TEAM
The Bowling Green State University women's golf team has completed one full round at the 2009 Duramed Mid-American Conference Preview, and the Falcons have fallen behind the pack, finishing in 16th place after a darkness-shortened first day. Fortunately, with good play on the second day, the Orange and Brown are in position to climb the standings and finish ahead of some of their MAC foes.
Through the first round, the Falcons shot 334. They are just two shots behind Southern Illinois (332) and only three behind MAC competitor Northern Illinois (331). Butler is only four ahead of Bowling Green (330), while Ohio University (327) is also within striking distance. Bowling Green is ten shots away from being in the top-ten; Youngstown State and Middle Tennessee State are tied at 10th with a score of 324.
The University of Akron leads the field, with Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan following closely behind in a tie for second. Bradley is fourth, while Oakland University and Ball State are tied for fifth.
On the individual side, freshman Susannah Grunden is yet again leading the pack for the Falcons. Her first round score of 79 is her seventh sub-80 round in nine rounds this season, and it puts her in a tie for 21st place. Sophomore Paula DiFrancesco saw her first action of the season today, and she also shot a first-round 79 to join Grunden in the 12-player tie for 21st. Both ladies are five shots behind the co-leaders.
Senior Hannah Lambert and junior Marisa Glew both carded an 88 for the first round, while fellow junior Lauren Glew scored a 93.
The second round of the tournament was suspended due to darkness and will be resumed on Tuesday, October 13. After completion of the second round, the third and final round will begin. Currently, all players are on the back nine of the second round.
