Falcons Improve On Second Day, Finish 14th At Duramed MAC Preview

The Bowling Green State University women's golf team completed the Duramed Mid-American Conference Preview by posting their best round of the tournament in the third and final round. Entering the day in 16th place, the Falcons used a score of 327 to move up two spots to 14th, finishing ahead of MAC foe Ohio University.
Overall, the Falcons shot a 992 (334-331-327) at the par-72, 6,114-yard Hawthorns Golf and Country Club in Fishers, Indiana. They finished eight strokes ahead of the Ohio Bobcats, while Southern Illinois placed 16th, nine shots behind the Falcons. Youngstown State finished just ahead of the Orange and Brown in 12th place with a score of 984.
Ball State took home the team championship. Eastern Michigan, Akron, Bradley, and Indiana State rounded out the top five. Host school Toledo finished eighth.
Individually, freshman Susannah Grunden once again led the pack for Bowling Green. Grunden carded a 233 (79-78-76) for the tournament to finish in a tie for 11th place. Her score was only four shots shy of landing in the top five. Grunden has now carded nine sub-80 rounds out of her 11 for the season, including an active streak of seven in a row. She also improved her season per-round average to 77.91, which is on pace to be a new school record.
Sophomore Paula DiFrancesco saw her initial action of the season and carded Bowling Green's second-best score of the day. Her three-round score of 252 included rounds of 79 and 81.
Senior Hannah Lambert (256) and juniors Marisa (261) and Lauren Glew (263) rounded out the Orange and Brown team.
Breanne Neufeld of Bradley University took home individual medalist honors with a total score of 223.
The Falcons will resume play next Monday and Tuesday, October 19th and 20th. They will compete in the University of Dayton Fall Invitational in Kettering, Ohio.
