FREE ADMISSION TO FALCONS-FINDLAY EXHIBITION
The Falcons' first performance in front of a live audience will be Wednesday night (Nov. 4), when BGSU hosts Findlay in an exhibition game. That contest will begin at 7:00 p.m. at venerable Anderson Arena, and admission is free.
Fans who can't make it to "The House That Roars" on Wednesday night can view the live stats and/or listen to the radio broadcast through BGSUFalcons.com. Once again this season, WBGU-FM 88.1 will be the flagship home of Falcon women's basketball, and all games are scheduled to be available through BGSUFalcons.com. Check back next week for the links to both the live stats and the audio feed.
Pat Dougherty and Jim Gramm are scheduled to handle the announcing duties for Wednesday's Findlay game.
FALCONS OPEN SEASON IN WNIT
The Falcons' first regular-season game will be Friday evening, Nov. 13, when BGSU hosts Chicago State in a 7:30 p.m. tip at Anderson. That game is a first-round contest in the WNIT.
The Falcons are guaranteed a total of at least three games in the WNIT, with subsequent dates, times and opponents TBA, depending upon the outcome of the first-round games.
POSSIBLE FALCON CLUB BUS TRIP
There are a few IFs in this note, so bear with us...
* IF the Falcons were to defeat Chicago State on Nov. 13, and;
* IF Ohio State defeats Eastern Illinois in that first-round game;
* THEN the Falcons would take on the Buckeyes in Columbus on Sunday, Nov. 15, in WNIT second-round action, with tipoff at 2:00 p.m.
IF that game came about, the Falcon Club would be taking a bus to Columbus for the game. Given the quick turnaround between the first- and second-round dates, the Falcon Club is accepting reservations now in the event of a BGSU-OSU matchup.
The trip is open to all Falcon fans, and the cost is $20 for Falcon Club members, $25 for non-members and $15 for BGSU students. The cost of the trip does NOT include a game ticket.
The bus would depart from Lot L, just north of Doyt Perry Stadium, at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15. To make reservations, call 419-372-2401 as soon as possible.
(NOTE: game tickets for the potential second-round matchup are $11 for adults, $8 for senior citizens (age 62 and over), and $6 for child/youth/student tickets. Fans can purchase those tickets through Ticket Master at 1-800-745-3000 or at the gate on game day.)
SPEAKING OF TICKETS...
The BGSU Athletic Ticket Office reports that as of Friday afternoon (Oct. 30), exactly 500 women's basketball season tickets have been sold for 2009-10. According to available information, this is a new record. The previous best had been a total of 491 season tickets sold two years ago (2007-08).
As recently as 2005-06, the total of BGSU women's basketball season tickets sold was just 62.
FALCONS RECEIVE VOTES IN FIRST AP POLL
The Associated Press released the first women's basketball poll of the 2009-10 season on Friday, and the Falcons received eight votes. Connecticut received all 40 first-place votes to hold down the top spot. The aforementioned Ohio State University, a possible BGSU opponent, is ranked third in the nation, while Vanderbilt, a definite Falcon opponent, is 22nd. The Falcons will meet the Commodores on Fri., Dec. 4, in Nashville.
