BGSU Gymnastics Holds Halloween Intra-Squad Meet: Ghosts vs. Goblins

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio BGSU Gymnastics celebrated Halloween with an intra-squad meet of Ghosts versus Goblins. The Goblins won the meet 116-114. Head Coach Kerrie Beach stated, "I am pleased with the progress the athletes displayed during this first major evaluation.” Combined the teams choreographed 27 out of the 32 routines performed during the meet.
The Ghosts for the event included Lexi Psichopaidas, Amber Brewer, Dawn Christman, Breanne Guy, Queenita Gamble, Carlene Allen, and Morgan Balzer.
Goblins for the night were Monica Eaton, Andrea Kinzer, Sunny Marchand, Danielle Wishart, Kasey Fillmore, Megan Chronister, and Molly Mckinnon.
The Goblins started off the meet on the vault with Wishart posting the top score of 9.75, followed by Marchand with a 9.7, and Kinzer a 9.65. Next up were the Ghosts with Guy and Christman both scoring a 9.7.
On the Uneven Bars, the Goblins were led by Fillmore with a 9.7 and Freshman Wishart and Eaton scoring a 9.6 and 9.55, respectively. The Ghosts’ line up for the bars included Breanne Guy and Amber Brewer. Guy swung to the leader board with a 9.75 and Brewer tied for third with a 9.6.
The next rotation was the balance beam. Goblins’ Fillmore and Chronister topped the leader board with a 9.65. The Ghosts wrapped up the beam with Christman posting a 9.6.
The final event for the night was the floor exercise. Ghosts’ Guy took first on the floor tumbling her way to a 9.75 and Christman came in second with a 9.7. The Goblins ended the night with a pair of 9.6’s from Fillmore and Marchand.
“It is clear we are on the right track. Particularly, I saw top performances from Breanne Guy, Kasey Fillmore and Dawn Christman. Our freshmen have also shown that they are ready to make the transition to collegiate gymnastics,” said Beach. “All fourteen of our athletes have the opportunity to be an integral part of our program during the competitive season. This was an excellent first step."
The event was judged by the BGSU Gymnastics coaching staff and a modified scoring system used.
