Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. For the second week in a row, the winners are men's basketball player Dee Brown and women's basketball player Lauren Prochaska.
Male Athlete of the Week
Dee Brown, a sophomore from Detroit, Mich., scored 16 points and made 5-of-6 free-throws in the final 30 seconds as Bowling Green defeated Canisius 58-54 for the team's fourth win in a row. Brown, who leads the Mid-American Conference in three-point shooting, made 3-of-5 from long and sealed the win by connecting on free-throws down the stretch.
Female Athlete of the Week
Lauren Prochaska, a junior from Plain City, Ohio, averaged 23.0 points and shot over 51 percent from the field as the Falcons split two games on the road. In a win over Detroit, she had 25 points on 8-of-16 shooting and followed that up with 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting in a loss at St. Bonaventure.
