BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team has returned to the national rankings for the first time in nearly two years. The Falcons are ranked 25th in the country in the latest USA Today ESPN Coaches' poll, released Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 24).
This marks the first time BGSU has entered the top 25 since the end of the 2006-07 season, when the Falcons were ranked 15th in the final USA Today ESPN poll. BG was ranked in 17 consecutive USA Today ESPN polls to end that season, shattering the school and conference records.
Tuesday's poll marks the 30th week in MAC history that a league institution has been listed in the USA Today ESPN poll, and BGSU has been that team in 27 of the 30 weeks, including 23 weeks under coach Curt Miller.
Miller and the Falcons are 23-2 overall, and 12-0 in Mid-American Conference play, heading into a Wednesday (Feb. 25) game at Buffalo. Then, the Falcons will return home for a Saturday (Feb. 28) contest vs. Kent State. Wednesday's game at UB begins at 7:00 p.m., while Saturday's game starts at noon at venerable Anderson Arena.
The complete poll, with first-place votes in parentheses. Total points are based on 25 points for first place through one point for 25th.
