CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University women's basketball junior Tara Breske has been named the Mid-American Conference's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The announcement was made Friday afternoon (March 13) by the conference office.

She shot a team-leading 52.6 percent from the field, and had a team-leading six of her 13 rebounds at the offensive end of the court.
Breske had eight points and seven rebounds in a 45-40 loss at Miami (March 4), which snapped a school-record 25-game winning streak. She then scored 13 points and had six rebounds in a 79-64 win over Ohio three days later (March 7). Breske went 6-of-7 from the floor in the latter game.
At the time of nomination, Breske was averaging 7.6 points, a team-leading 6.2 rebounds and a BG-best 1.2 blocks per game. In MAC action, she finished the regular season with 8.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg and 1.3 bpg, again leading the team in rebounds and blocks.
The Falcons had the MAC's best record for the fifth consecutive year, going 15-1 in league action. BG now has an overall record of 27-3, after posting an 82-65 win over Central Michigan in Friday's (March 13) MAC Tournament quarterfinal round. BGSU has clinched a national postseason berth for the fifth consecutive year.
The Falcons advance to face Toledo in Saturday's (March 14) conference tournament semifinals. Tipoff is scheduled for noon at Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland.
Breske, an exercise science major, has a cumulative grade point average of 3.58.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition.
