This year's Doyt Perry Florida Classic Another Success

The 2nd annual Doyt Perry Florida Classic hosted by the Falcon Club was held at the Vineyards Country Club this past February 8 and 9. Over 100 attended the Sunday night Falcon Greats Reception and dinner hosted again by former Falcon, George Schmelzle, and his wife Julie. Those in attendance heard remarks from BGSU Head Football Coach, Dave Clawson, Athletics Director Greg Christopher and keynote speaker, former Falcon great and NFL player, Mike Weger.
Evening guests included College Football Hall of Fame Coach, Don Nehlen, former Indiana Coach, Bill Mallory, former BGSU Baseball Coach, Don Purvis and BGSU Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. Ed Whipple, plus many other Falcon letterwinners, fraternity brothers and BG alums.
Special recognition was given to former Athletics Director and Head Baseball Coach, Dick Young, and his wife Sandy for a very generous estate gift to Falcon Athletics. The Young's gift is to be used for athletic scholarships.
The Monday golf outing on the Vineyards North Course had 12 foursomes and was followed by a 19th hole cocktail reception that featured golf awards, socializing and more sharing of Falcon memories by attendees.
