Badenhop Called Up By The Marlins

BOWLING GREEN, OHIO - Former BGSU baseball player Burke Badenhop was called up Monday night by the Florida Marlins after spending the first few weeks of the season playing for the Marlins Triple-A affilliate in New Orleans.
Badenhop made his major league debut last season with the Marlins making eight starts while appearing in a total of 13 games. He was 2-3 with a 6.08 ERA during his stint in the majors before being placed on the 15-day disabled list in June with shoulder tendinitis. He was transferred to the 60-day DL the end of July and missed the remainder of the season.
The Perrysburg, Ohio native was in uniform Tuesday (April 21) for the Marlins game at Pittsburgh. The two teams play a 12:35 game today (April 22).
Badenhop, who was 1-0 with a 3.12 ERA in 8.2 innings of relief work with the Marlins last season, made two starts for New Orleans, before the call up, and had a 0-1 record with a 6.75 ERA in 9.1 innings.
Badenhop was in training camp with the Marlins until close to the end of Spring Training. He appeared in seven games pitching a total of 11 innings. He had a 4.09 ERA making one start among his seven appearances in Spring Training.
The right-hander replaced starter Andrew Miller on the Marlins' Major League roster. Miller was placed on the 15-day DL with a right oblique strain. Miller's next scheduled start was to be on Sunday (April 26).
Florida starts today's schedule of games with the best record in the majors (11-3) and they lead the National League's East Division.
