Women's Golf Begins Busy Week; Plays in EKU Colonel Classic on Saturday

The Bowling Green State University women's golf team will tee it up twice in a four day span, beginning by playing in the EKU Lady Colonel Classic on Apr. 11-12. Following that trip they will host the Falcon Invitational on Apr. 14-15.
The 18-team field will play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday. The course measures out to 5,817 yards (par-72).
Competing with the Orange and Brown in Kentucky will be: Akron, Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Evansville, Houston Baptist, Morehead State, Murray State, Ohio, Richmond, Southern Illinois, SIU Edwardsville, Tennessee Tech , Toledo and Western Kentucky.
First Time For Everything
Marisa Glew accomplished a feat last weekend that most golfers can only dream of. On the eighth hole, a par-3, the sophomore recorded her first career hole-in-one, the Falcons' first ace under fourth-year head coach Stephanie Young.
MAC Championships Are Nearing
Following the tournament at EKU, BGSU will host the Falcon Invitational on April 11-12 before heading to the Cleveland State Invitational on April 20. The following week the Falcons will be in Nashport, Ohio for the 2009 MAC Championships (April 24-26).
Last Time Out
The Bowling Green State University women's golf team fired a 343 in round two to finish 12th at the 2009 Grand Prairie Classic, hosted by Bradley University in Peoria, Ill with a score of 683. The tournament, which was scheduled for 54 holes, had the final round cancelled due to poor weather conditions.
Drake won the event with a 36-hole score of 632. They were followed by Missouri State (636), Indiana State (638), Bradley (639) and Western Illinois (647) to round out the top five.
Top scorer for the Orange and Brown on Sunday was Lauren Glew. Glew led the team with an 83 on Sunday and finished the tournament in a tie for 43rd, recording a 168 (85-83).
Junior Hannah Lambert finished in a tie for 49th with a score of 170 (83-87), while freshman Paula DiFrancesco shot 172 (85-87) to finish in a tie for 59th.
Marisa Glew finished 63rd with a score of 175 (87-88).
Rounding out the Falcon golfers were Megan Gormley, 179 (93-86, T-77th) and Megan Bader, 179 (88-91, T-77th).
