BGSU Gymnasts Recognized for Academic Achievements
August 06, 2009 | Gymnastics
Seven BGSU gymnasts have been named Academic All-Americans by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W), and the Falcons were recognized as a team as well, for their scholastic achievements in 2008-09.
Junior Megan Chronister along with freshmen Dawn Christman and Stacy Kramer finished the year with perfect 4.0 GPAs. Nationally, only 67 gymnasts attained the mark this year.
Other BGSU gymnasts being awarded Scholastic All-American honors include junior Morgan Balzer, and sophomores Michelle Luchini, Meg Satterlee and Amber Brewer.
Brewer, Chronister and Balzer have now earned this prestigious honor for the third consecutive year. Luchini is also a repeat offender and is now a two-time Scholastic All-American.
The Falcon squad finished with a team GPA of 3.21, good for a top-50 finish. BGSU was barely edged out by the University of Michigan by less than 0.005 points. Last season, the Falcons had five gymnasts represented for the honor.
In order to be considered for the award, individual student-athletes must have posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better for the 2008-09 academic year.
