Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic Information

The Bowling Green State University softball team will participate in the Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic Oct. 3-4 at Fred Beekman Park on The Ohio State University campus, an event that has grown into one of the biggest fundraisers for Breast Cancer Awareness in Central Ohio.
In its ninth season, the Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser hosted by the Ohio State softball team at Fred Beekman Park will open with seven games on Oct. 3 and conclude with 22 games on Oct. 4.
A total of 20 teams, with Tiffin fielding two squads, will compete in the event, which benefits the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.
The Spielmans, Stefanie and Chris, established the Stefanie Spielman Fund and pledged to raise $1 million for breast cancer research at the aforementioned sites. The goal has been surpassed, but the Spielman's continue the fight against breast cancer. For information, please log on to the Stephanie Spielman Fund website. Spielman's husband, former All-Pro NFL linebacker and OSU standout, Chris Spielman, again will speak with the teams on the final day of the tournament.
Fred Beekman Park is an eight-field complex located west of State Route 315 at Lane Avenue. Concessions will be available from the Central Ohio Coaches Association and bleacher seating is limited. Admission to the event will be a $5 donation and all proceeds go directly to the charity. Notably, all of the umpires for this event are donating their time.
With the highest number of Ohio colleges and universities competing at the event this year in the eight-year history, the teams hope to raise its largest donation for Stefanie Spielman Fund.
