
Falcon Gymnastics Finishes Third In Season Opener

Ann Arbor, Mich. Head coach Kerrie Beach and Bowling Green State University gymnastics opened their season Saturday night (Jan. 9) with a third place finish in their first non-conference meet scoring a 189.925 against #12 Michigan (194.875) and Iowa (193.200).
The Orange and Brown were led by a large number of veterans however three freshman gymnasts made their debut as Falcons, including Danielle Wishart taking sixth on the vault also Sunny Marchand and Monica Eaton putting up big numbers
The Falcons started off the meet on the vault where they scored a team second place finish of 48.025. Wishart topped the Falcons with a sixth place finish scoring a 9.725 following closely behind was Breanne Guy with a 9.650. Sophomore Andrea Kinzer tied for ninth with a 9.600 and rounding out the event was Marchand and Amber Brewer scoring 9.575 and 9.475, respectively.
Next rotation for the Orange and Brown were the uneven bars. Team captains Amber Brewer and Kasey Fillmore swung to a 9.650 and 9.625, respectively. Starting their senior season on the bars were Morgan Balzer with a 9.575 and Megan Chronister scoring a 9.450. Also competing on the uneven bars was Guy recording a 9.150.
The Falcons then moved on to the balance beam with two top ten finishes. Guy took eighth place scoring a 9.625 and Chronister with a 9.550 to take the 10th spot. Dawn Christman followed close behind recording a 9.500. Closing out the event was Kasey Fillmore scoring a 9.125 and Queenita Gamble with an 8.950.
The Orange and Brown wrapped up the meet on the floor. Christman led the Falcons with a three way tie for fourth place recording a 9.750. Freshman Wishart rounded out the top 10 with a tie scoring a 9.675. Gamble tumbled her way to a 9.625. Fillmore and Marchand finished the meet up for the Falcons by scoring a 9.450 and 9.200, respectively.
Guy competed in the all-around for the Orange and Brown and took seventh place scoring a 37.125.
The Falcons will host Northern Illinois for their 2010 season home opener on Sunday, January 24, at 2:00 p.m. in Anderson Arena. This will mark the second season that Falcon gymnastics will call Anderson Arena their home.
