BGSU Women's Teams Recognized For Academic Success
January 25, 2010 | General
Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's athletic teams were honored at a recent basketball game as the 2008-09 winner of the Women's Faculty Athletic Representative Award by the Mid-American Conference.
The award is presented to the MAC institution whose women's programs achieve the highest number of points based on the overall grade point average of the women's teams at that institution. It is modeled after the Reese and Jacoby all-sports awards in which each program is ranked against the rest of the conference. For instance, the women's basketball team with the highest grade point average gets 12 points, the team with the second-highest grade point average gets 11 points, etc. The average rank for each women's team is then compiled and the school with the highest average receives the award. Bowling Green had an 8.600 score.
MAC Commissioner Dr. Jon Steinbrecher was in attendance and presented the award to Bowling Green Director of Athletics Greg Christopher, Senior Associate Director of Athletics Janna Blais, Provost Dr. Ken Borland, Faculty Athletic Representative Dr. Lee Meserve, and various student-athletes including Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President Meg Richardson.
