Zuccaro, a native of Mentor, Ohio (Mentor H.S.), scored seven points as the Falcons won a pair of games last weekend. The Falcons are off to a 2-0-0 start in MAC play for the first time in four years and only the fourth time in program history.
Zuccaro had her first career hat trick in last Friday's (Sept. 24) 4-0 win over Buffalo at Cochrane Field in the MAC opener. It was the first hat trick by a BGSU player since November of 2004, and was only the second hat trick in a MAC regular-season game in the history of the program.
On Sunday (Sept. 26), Zuccaro had the primary assist on Tracy Togba's game-winning goal. The goal came with just 8:27 left in regulation, in what turned out to be a 1-0 win over Kent State.
Zuccaro has a team-leading 15 points this season, including six goals. She has scored 12 points in the last three games, all wins. 'Z' now ranks 10th in scoring in BGSU history, with 33 career points. Her total of 13 career goals places her eighth on that BG list.
In the classroom, Zuccaro has a 3.01 cumulative grade point average as an adolescent/young adult/secondary education major.
The MAC Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Week honor is presented to one male and one female student-athlete each week. To qualify for nomination, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically, must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and must have performed well during the prior week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
The Falcons head to Ypsilanti, Mich., on Friday afternoon to take on Eastern Michigan. Then, BGSU returns home for a Sunday (Oct. 3) contest against defending MAC champion Central Michigan.
