Prochaska named to Preseason All-MAC Team
The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team has been picked to win both the Mid-American Conference's East Division title and the MAC Tournament crown in 2011, according to the league's preseason poll. The poll was released Wednesday morning (Oct. 27) by the conference office.
Additionally, BGSU senior Lauren Prochaska was selected to the Preseason All-MAC Team. Prochaska was the MAC's Player of the Year in both 2009 and 2010.
BGSU has won six consecutive MAC regular-season titles, with a West Division crown in 2004-05 and five-straight East titles after being moved back to the East Division prior to the '05-06 academic year.
Miller and his staff – associate head coach Jennifer Roos, assistant coaches Brandi Poll and Kevin Eckert and director of operations Monique Rosati – welcome back 10 letterwinners from the 2009-10 team. That squad went 27-7 overall and 14-2 in MAC action, winning the conference regular-season and tourney crowns. BGSU advanced to national postseason play for a sixth consecutive March, earning the MAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
Toledo was picked to win the West Division, followed by Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Ball State, Northern Illinois and Western Michigan.
Thirty-seven of the 45 voters picked BGSU to successfully defend the MAC Tournament crown in 2011. UT received six of the remaining votes, while EMU garnered the other two votes.
Fans will get their first chance to see the Falcons in action on Wednesday, Nov. 3, when BGSU takes on Findlay in an exhibition game at Anderson Arena. The regular season opens with a game at Evansville on Friday, Nov. 12, and the home opener is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 15, vs. Creighton.
The MAC poll results and preseason all-conference team follow.
