Falcons Hope to Resume Winning Ways in Youngstown
November 10, 2010 | Women's Swimming & Diving
The Bowling Green State University swimming team attempts to rebound from their first loss of the season when they travel to Youngstown, Ohio on Friday (Nov. 12) at 4:00 p.m. to face the Penguins of Youngstown State.
The Falcons (1-1, 1-1 MAC) lost to the Bobcats, 173-119, last Saturday in Athens. However, junior Vicky Yu and sophomore Alexis Kain continued their event dominance as they swept the butterfly and breaststroke events, respectively. Yu and Kain have swept those events in each of BGSU's first two dual meets.
In their first meet of the season, Bowling Green defeated Akron, 160-134. As with Akron, the Falcons already have experience this year against the Penguins, having faced the team in mid-October at the Tom Stubbs Relays held at BGSU's Cooper Pool.
Since that meet, Youngstown State (2-1) has defeated Butler (122-77) and Niagara (191-109) and has lost to Marshall (171-129).
This week's meet will include 14 swimming events. Festivities will kick off with the 400 medley relay, followed by the 1000 and 200 freestyle. The 100-yard backstroke and breaststroke are followed by the 200 butterfly and the 50 freestyle. After the one-meter diving, the swimming resumes with the 100 freestyle and the 200-yard events in the backstroke and breaststroke.
Three-meter diving follows the 500 freestyle and 100 butterfly events. The meet concludes with the 200 individual medley and the 400 freestyle relay.
Live stats/scoring will not be available for this meet. However, live video for the meet will be available through the Horizon League Network here.
Complete results and a full recap will be posted here at BGSUFalcons.com after the conclusion of the meet.
