BGSU Defeated Ohio University, 148-146, Last Season
The Bowling Green State University swimming team looks to build upon the successes achieved last weekend against Akron when they travel to Athens, Ohio on Saturday (Nov. 6) to face the Ohio Bobcats in Mid-American Conference action.
On October 30th, the Falcons defeated Akron, 160-134, in the conference opener for both teams. The Falcons won 10 of the 14 swimming events, highlighted by two victories each from Vicky Yu, Emily Bennet and Alexis Kain.
Yu swept the butterfly events, while Kain did so in the breaststroke races. Bennet defeated Akron opponents in two of the day's freestyle events.
Bowling Green also swept the two relay events. Both Yu and Bennet took part in the winning teams in the 200 medley and 400 free relays, while Kain joined with Yu and Bennet in the 200 yard event.
Falcon swimmers are looking for their second consecutive victory over the Bobcats. During the 2009-10 season, Bowling Green's 148-146 win over Ohio at Cooper Pool was the team's only victory of the year, with the Falcons securing the winning margin in the final race of the meet.
In Saturday's meet, there will be 14 swimming events. These include the 50-, 100-, 200-, 500- and 1000-free, as well as the 100- and 200-yard events in the butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke. The teams will also compete in the 200 IM, the 200 free relay and the 400 medley relay.
Ohio enters the meet at 1-1 (1-1 MAC) after an early season victory over Eastern Michigan and a loss at Toledo. This will be Ohio's first home meet of the season.
