Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University Athletics Department has announced that the men's and women's basketball teams will each play a throwback game during the second semester of the 2010-11 season as part of the year-long celebration of the final season in Anderson Arena titled “Closing The Doors Of The House That Roars”.
Along with wearing throwback jerseys for those games, general admission ticket prices will be just $1. The department is also finalizing special throwback pricing for limited concession items.
The men's team will wear jerseys modeled after ones from the early-1960's for the Jan. 16 home game against Miami (Ohio) at 2 p.m. The women's team will wear jerseys modeled after those from the mid-1980's for the Jan. 22 home game against Central Michigan at 2 p.m.
When the season is complete, both sets of jerseys will be auctioned off, including a special No. 42 men's basketball jersey, which is the only retired number for either team and belonged to NBA Hall of Famer Nate Thurmond.
