With the win, the Ospreys improve to 7-13 on the season, while the Falcons fall to 4-9.
Reese had given UNF a 1-0 lead with a solo homer in the bottom of the second inning, but Falcon freshman Paige Berger tied the score with one swing of the bat in the top of the fourth. The homer was Berger's team-leading fifth of the season, and the Falcons' 10th on the year.
BGSU, however, could muster only one other hit in the game -- a second-inning single by freshman Andrea Arney -- off of UNF hurlers Shaina Dent and Devyn Findley.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Ospreys took the lead for good with a pair of unearned runs, aided by three walks and a BG error.
UNF scored four times in the fifth inning to extend the lead to six. Findley helped her own relief cause with a two-run homer, while Reese homered two batters later to cap the scoring.
Dent went three-and-a-third innings in the circle, allowing one run on two hits. Findley worked the final three and two-thirds innings, and did not allow a hit. The duo combined for nine strikeouts, with six by Findley.
BGSU pitchers allowed only four hits, but three were homers.
Junior Melissa Bott took the loss for the Falcons, allowing only one earned run in five innings. Bott gave up just two hits, walking three and striking out four. Classmate Zada Lines pitched one inning, giving up four runs (two earned) and two hits. She walked two batters and whiffed one.
Berger was named to the Buzz Classic All-Tournament Team, as each of the 22 participating teams had one representative.
The Falcons are now idle until a game at the University of Michigan on March 24.
