Falcon Signees Have Successful Seasons, Too

The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team had another successful season, going 27-7 overall and winning Mid-American Conference regular-season and tournament titles. BGSU's women's basketball signees have had successful 2009-10 seasons as well.

Jillian Halfhill (Canfield, Ohio) earned All-Ohio Special Mention in Division I, helping Canfield to an overall record of 13-8. Halfhill, a 5-6 point guard, averaged 16.8 points, 5.2 assists and 3.1 steals on the season, helping the Cardinals to an All American Conference Red Tier title. She finished her high school career with totals of 1,306 points and 434 assists.

Jill Stein (Clyde, Ohio) earned All-Ohio First-Team honors in Division II, after helping her Tiffin Columbian squad to 23-straight wins and a district championship. Stein, a 6-2 forward, averaged 13.5 points per game on the season, helping the Tornadoes to an undefeated regular season for the second year in a row. This season, Columbian remained unbeaten until a loss to Walsh Jesuit in the regional semifinals ended their year with a 23-1 mark. She had a school-record 87 blocked shots this season, and holds the school career records in blocks (216), rebounds (712) and field-goal percentage (55%). Stein finished fourth in school history with 908 career points. She has a grade-point average of 3.96.

Noelle Yoder (Millersburg, Ohio) was an All-Ohio Second-Team selection, averaging 19 points per game and helping Berlin Hiland reach the Division IV state championship game for the second-straight March. The Hawks won district and regional titles and compiled a 25-3 overall record, losing to Harvest Prep in the state finals. Yoder, a 5-6 guard, earned the team's "Best Offensive Player' award. She hit a game-tying three-pointer at the buzzer in the regional semifinals, as Hiland eventually downed Cleveland Lutheran East in overtime. Yoder shot 43 percent from the field, 37% from three-point land and 85% from the free-throw line this season. She had 1,105 career points in her four years (two years at Hiland after spending her freshman and sophomore seasons at West Holmes H.S.).

The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller, as mentioned, went 27-7 overall in '09-10. BGSU went 14-2 in MAC play, winning the league's regular-season title for the sixth consecutive season. Miller and the Falcons lose the services of four seniors off of the 2009-10 team, but will add Halfhill, Stein, Yoder and Danielle Havel to the active roster in the fall. Havel (Carmel, Ind.), a transfer from DePaul University, sat out the 2009-10 season at BGSU and has three years of eligibility remaining.
