LAST TIME(S) OUT
The Falcons dropped a pair of narrow 4-3 decisions on the road last weekend, losing at Toledo Friday (April 9) and Eastern Michigan Saturday (April 10) ... in each case, BGSU won the doubles point, but saw the host school capture four of the six singles matches ... three Falcons – junior Christine Chiricosta and freshmen Maddy Eccleston and Katie Grubb – each went 3-1 in their weekend matches, splitting their singles contests and sweeping the doubles matches ... Chiricosta and Eccleston played together at the top doubles flight, while Grubb played at the third flight with senior Samantha Kintzel at UT and sophomore Jessica Easdale against EMU ... Easdale was 2-1 overall on the weekend.
GOOD OMENS?
• BGSU is looking to snap a four-match losing streak, the team's longest in four years ... the Falcons lost five-straight matches from March 31-April 15, 2006, before any of the current team members were at BG.
• The last four matches of the 2006 streak saw the Falcons lose at Miami, at home to Western Michigan, at Toledo and at Eastern Michigan ... BG snapped that slide with a home win over Northern Illinois ... this season, the current streak has seen the Brown and Orange lose to – in order – Miami on the road, WMU at home and UT and EMU on the road ... now, obviously, the Falcons return home to face NIU.

FOUR MORE THINGS YOU MIGHT WANNA KNOW ABOUT THE FALCONS
• BGSU needs one more win to match the total for all of last season ... the 2008-09 team posted an overall dual-match record of 12-7 ... this year's squad is 11-7 with at least four matches remaining, including three at home.
• The Falcons have recorded at least 10 dual-match victories for the eighth consecutive season, extending the school record ... prior to the current streak, the longest string of double-digit win totals was four-straight seasons, on two prior occasions (1988-92 and 1996-2000).
• Additionally, the Falcons need just one more victory to clinch a winning record ... BGSU is looking to finish above .500 for the sixth-straight season, which would extend that school mark ... BG has had winning overall records in each of the last five years, breaking the old mark of four consecutive winning seasons (from 1974-75 through 1977-78, and from 1996-97 through 1999-2000).
• BGSU has posted a total of 52 wins since the team's two seniors, co-captains Katia Babina and Samantha Kintzel, arrived on campus ... the school record for wins in a four-year span is 55, set by the senior class of 2007-08 (Jenna Nussbaum and Andrea Volle) and matched by last year's seniors – Libby Harrison, Kelsey Jakupcin and Stefanie Menoff.

THE OPPONENT / THE SERIES
Northern Illinois enters the weekend with an overall record of 7-10 and a 1-5 MAC mark ... the Huskies are looking to snap a four-match losing streak, with all four of those losses having come at home ... Northern is 4-3 in road matches this year to date, and just 2-7 in home contests ... the Huskies' lone MAC win came over Eastern Michigan, 5-2 ... NIU and BGSU have two common non-conference opponents, as both the Huskies and the Falcons posted a 7-0 win over South Dakota but lost by a 6-1 final to UIC ... last year, NIU went 7-16 overall and 1-7 in MAC regular-season play ... the Huskies downed Ball State in the first round of the MAC Championships at Keefe Courts, before losing to eventual champion Miami in the quarterfinals.
BGSU trails Northern Illinois, 11-10, in the all-time series between the teams, but the Falcons have captured the last five meetings ... BG won, 6-1, in Illinois last April 3 ... in the teams' last meeting in NW Ohio, the Falcons came away with a 7-0 win two years ago (March 29, 2008) at Shadow Valley in Toledo ... NIU's last win over BGSU came at the old Keefe Courts in April of 2004.
