Dawn Christman, a member of the Bowling Green State University gymnastics team, has been named to the Mid-American Conference All-Academic Team. The announcement was made by the league office this afternoon (Apr. 28).
Christman, a exercise specialist, who maintains a 4.00 grade-point average, earned a tie for first on the floor exercise at the MAC Chamionships, the Falcons' lone champion on any event. The sophomore made her living on the floor, recording nine 9.750's or high on the exercise throughout the year.
She had her best all-around meet in 2010 versus Ball State, where she posted a 36.500 and had a season-high 9.750 on the balance beam versus Central Michigan.
Christman was one of 10 student-athletes from the MAC to earn the award. The complete list is below.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments from the current season only are considered.
