Christine Chiricosta Named to All-MAC First Team

Junior earns all-conference honors for third time in as many seasons
Bowling Green State University tennis junior Christine Chiricosta has been named to the 2010 All-Mid-American Conference Team. Chiricosta, a native of Avon Lake, Ohio (Avon Lake H.S.), earned all-conference first-team honors.

The All-MAC Team and conference specialty awards were handed out Thursday night (April 29) at the MAC Championships banquet on the campus of Western Michigan University.
Chiricosta earns first-team accolades after being named to the second team in each of her first two years at BGSU.
This season, Chiricosta has an overall singles record of 22-8 to date, leading the team in wins. She has a 15-6 record in dual matches, having played at the number-one flight in all 21 of BGSU's duals this spring, and went 5-3 in MAC regular-season action.
In doubles, Chiricosta has an overall record of 21-8, including a 16-5 mark in dual-match play. She
has teamed with freshman Maddy Eccleston at the top flight for every dual match, with that duo going 6-2 in MAC matches.
Chiricosta's total of 43 victories this season leads the team and ties her for 10th in BGSU history.

Chiricosta was joined on the first team by the Akron duo of Zara Harutyunyan and Angelina Jogasuria, along with Anastasia Dracheva of
Second-team honors went to Buffalo's Alexsandra Petrova, Miami's Stephanie Danesis and Megan Martzolf, Toledo's Maha Guirguis, Akron's Angelika Jogasuria and Western Michigan's Emily Dudzik.

The other awards all were the result of voting by the conference's nine head coaches.
The Falcons of head coach Penny Dean, the seventh seed for the MAC Championships, will face second-seeded UA in Friday's (April 30) quarterfinal round. That match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. at WMU's Sorensen Courts.
