Falcons Announce Addition Of Two Student-Athletes For 2010-11
May 03, 2010 | Men's Basketball
Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University men's basketball coach Louis Orr has announced the addition of two players for the 2010-11 season. Torian Oglesby and Anthony Henderson have both signed National Letters of Intent to continue their careers with the Orange and Brown.
Oglesby, a junior college transfer from Mott Community College, hails from Saginaw, Mich. Henderson, a 6-foot-2 guard from Toledo, completed his career at Start High School.
A 6-foot-7 forward, Oglesby will be part of a group tasked with replacing Bowling Green's three graduating post players. Under the tutelage of Coach Steve Schmidt, Oglesby lead Mott CC to a 26-4 record overall, including a record of 15-1 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association. The Bears defeated Glen Oaks CC 77-73 for the MCCAA Tournament Championship and he was named to the Eastern Conference All-Defensive Team and third team all-Eastern conference. He played in all 30 games for Mott, averaging 10.0 points and a team-best 8.4 rebounds, while shooting 63.9 percent from the field. Oglesby also blocked 34 shots and added 41 steals.
“Torian is a quality young guy from a quality program,” Orr said. “Coach Schmidt is a Hall of Fame coach and he has done a great job with him. Torian is an athletic competitor and a rugged guy who will compete hard on both ends of the court. He's a traffic rebounder and will add to our toughness around the basket. He's mobile, he runs well, and he's a high energy guy.”
Henderson was named Ohio First Team All-State after averaging 27.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game as a senior under Coach Ted Pasqualone. He broke Start High School's scoring record with 1,350 career points and was the Toledo Blade's Player of the Year. He was also named City League Player of the Year and shared the player of the year award on the Associated Press Division I all-district team.
“Anthony is another quality young man from a great family,” Orr said. “Coach Pasqualone has built a family atmosphere around the team and has done a great job with Anthony. He has the ability to score in a lot of different ways. But he is unselfish and can create plays with the ball for himself or for his teammates. One thing we really like about him is his playmaking ability in late shot clock situations. He's a good finisher and can play both guard spots. He's young and he has huge upside still.”
Oglesby and Henderson will be added to the 2010-11 recruiting class that already included two players signed during the fall signing period. Craig Sealy, a 6-foot-6 forward from Brookhaven High School in Columbus, Ohio, and Cameron Black, a 6-foot-10 forward/center from Kent Roosevelt High School in Kent, Ohio, have both signed National Letters of Intent.
