BGSU Basketball Alumni Moving Into New Roles
July 01, 2010 | Men's Basketball
Bowling Green, Ohio – Former Bowling Green men's basketball players Otis Polk and Bob Hill have signed contracts to move into new positions. Polk, who graduated from BGSU this summer, has signed to play with the Plymouth Raiders in England and Hill, who is a former NBA coach, has been hired as the Head Coach of the Tokyo Apache in the Basketball Japan League.
Polk completed his career at Bowling Green in 2009-10 as the school's career blocked shot leader and helped the Falcons to a Mid-American Conference regular season championship as a junior. He will play for the Plymouth Raiders of the British Basketball League under Head Coach Gavin Love.
“I'm happy for Otis,” Bowling Green Head Coach Louis Orr said. “This is a dream come true for him to be a professional basketball player. He's worked hard and he's a quality player and quality person. He has a bright future and his best years are still ahead of him.”
Hill, who played at Bowling Green from 1969-71, spent time as the coach for four different NBA franchises, as well as Fordham University. He will coach the Tokyo Apache in the top-level Japanese League, the Basketball Japan League. The team was runner-up for the league title in both 2007-08 and 2008-09.
