Falcon Club Sets Giving Record In 2009-10
July 27, 2010 | General
Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green athletic department has announced that the Falcon Club set a record in 2009-10 for total giving, with $746,322. That represents a 25 percent increase from 2008-09, which saw athletic donors give a previous record of $594,762. This figure does not include gifts made to support capital projects.
“This year's success is a credit to our generous and loyal donors, the diligence of our volunteers, the outstanding work of the Falcon Club staff, and our talented coaches who recruit quality student-athletes that alumni and fans are proud to support,” Mary Ellen Gillespie, Associate Athletics Director for External Relations, said.
Along with those numbers, the Badenhop Challenge reached its goal of 100 new young alumni during the 2009-10 year. To continue the success of recruiting young alumni, the Falcon Club, with the help of Major League Baseball pitcher and 2005 BGSU graduate Burke Badenhop, has kicked off round two of the challenge.
“Our greatest resource continues to be our current Falcon Club members because they believe in the student-athlete experience,” Gillespie said. “They believe that BGSU can and should be competing for championships. They have once again shown their passion and commitment for supporting all 425 student-athletes. They are truly the team behind our teams.”
The Falcon Club, which has been in existence for 47 years, is the umbrella fundraising organization for Bowling Green State University athletics. Fans and alumni who wish to donate to support Falcon student-athletes can give to any of the individual 18 sports or to the scholarship fund. Members also participate with coaches and student-athletes in various events throughout the year.
