Crawford, Pettigrew Named Papa John's Athletes Of The Week
January 17, 2011 | General, Men's Basketball, Women's Track and Field
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's basketball player Jordon Crawford and track and field start Jeanette Pettigrew.
Male Athlete of the Week
Jordon Crawford, a sophomore from Cincinnati, Ohio, had 10 points, eights assists and a career-high five steals as the BGSU men's basketball team handed Miami (Ohio) its first conference loss with a 62-53 win Sunday. Crawford entered the game with the team trailing 10-2, but he played the next 22 minutes as the Falcons outscored the RedHawks 36-20. In a loss to Kent State earlier in the week, Crawford had 10 points, four assists and two steals.
Female Athlete of the Week
Jeanette Pettigrew, a sophomore from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, won the 60 meter dash in the BGSU Challenge, coming up just shy of the school record. Her time of 7.55 was two-hundredths of a second slower than the BGSU record time of 7.53. She also placed fourth in the 200 with a time of 25.94. She helped the Falcons place third out of seven teams, edging out a pair of MAC opponents.
