Falcons Host Cleveland State in Season's Final Home Meet
January 24, 2011 | Women's Swimming & Diving
The Bowling Green State University swimming team competes at Cooper Pool for the final time in the 2010-11 season when the Falcons host Cleveland State on Wednesday, Jan. 29 in a non-conference dual meet.
Falcon swimmers (2-2, 1-2 Mid-American Conference) have split their two previous home meets. In October, the Orange and Brown opened the season with a 160-134 win over Akron. On Jan. 14, the team returned to Cooper Pool and fell in a tight match with Eastern Michigan, 158-136.
Vicky Yu (butterfly) and Alexis Kain (breaststroke) are 4-0 thus far at home in their signature events. Each has swept their events at both home meets and have also helped the Falcons combine for three relay victories in four attempts.
Wednesday's events include both butterfly and breaststroke events, as well as the 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 freestyle races. Also included in the meet are the 100 and 200 backstroke, the 200 individual medley, the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay.
Wednesday will also represent Senior Day for BGSU swimmers Sarah Burston and Carrie Enright. Both swimmers will be honored in a ceremony prior to the start of the meet.
The Falcons' opponents, Cleveland State, enter the meet 14-3 in dual events and will be attempting to set a school record for wins in a single season.
Wednesday night's event will be the first of two meets this week for Bowling Green. After facing Cleveland State, the Falcons will travel up I-75 to face the Toledo Rockets in the final MAC dual meet of the season on Friday evening.
