Falcon Club Breaks Giving Record For Third Consecutive Year
October 18, 2011 | General, Falcon Club
Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University Falcon Club received $904,766.76 during the 2010-11 school year, a 21-percent increase over 2009-10. It marks the third consecutive year in which the BGSU Department of Athletics has seen a new record giving total. The figures do not include gifts made to support capital projects.
“One only has to look around campus and see the Stroh Center, new soccer lights, a renovated ice arena and new locker rooms to know that something special is happening at BGSU,” Mary Ellen Gillespie, Associate Athletics Director for External Relations, said. “Our coaches lead programs that people believe in and the momentum for helping them get to the highest level continues to grow. We can and will compete for championships and the support of the Falcon Club helps make it possible.”
In 2008-09, Falcon Club donations reached a record total of $594,762 and that total increased to $746,322 a year ago. In the two year stretch from 2008-09 to 2010-11, total giving to Falcon Club has increased 52 percent.
“Once again, our donors and fans have answered the call for support,” Director of Athletics Greg Christopher said. “I'm proud of our volunteers, our development staff and our coaches who continue to recruit quality student-athletes who people want to support.”
The Falcon Club, which has been in existence for 48 years, is the umbrella fundraising organization for Bowling Green State University athletics. Fans and alumni who wish to donate to support Falcon student-athletes can give to any of the individual 18 sports or to the scholarship fund. Members also participate with coaches and student-athletes in various events throughout the year. For more information, or to become a member, please visit BGSUFalcons.com.
