The Orange and Brown defeated the Blue Streaks of John Carroll 218-43. The competition against Oakland's Golden Grizzlies was much more fierce, but the Falcosn still prevailed, 133-129.
Oakland and John Carroll also went head-to-head in the triangular, with Oakland winning 190-62.
In the 14 event meet, the Falcons placed first in one of the relays and second in the other, with BGSU's second team earning third place in each race. Bowling Green earned even more success in the 12 individual races.
During those, BGSU posted 20 top-three finishes. Six Falcons won events, with five more earning second place and another nine placing third. In 8 of the 12 individual races, Bowling Green swimmers took two of the top three spots.
Emily Bennet earned a career-best time in the 100 backstroke on her way to victory in the race. Bennet's time of 58.95 seconds was less than one second faster than teammate Alexa Harris (0:59.72).
Harris earned a victory of her own by capturing the 200 backstroke in 2:08.88 and defeating Oakland's Alyssa Busch by three seconds. Jen Beatty finished four seconds back and placed third.
After the 100 backstroke event, Alexis Kain resumed her dominance in breaststroke events. She set a 30.91-second pace over the first 50 yards of the 100 breaststroke and completed the race in 1:05.89. Freshman Carmen Young (1:10.09) placed third.
Not willing to rest on her laurels, Kain came back later in the meet and won the 200 breaststroke to sweep that set of events. Kain (2:24.60) won the race by over 2.5 seconds. Young finished fourth with a time of 2:32.87.
Vicky Yu blazed out of the gate in the 200 butterfly as she covered the first 50 yards in 0:28.12 and cruised to a two-second victory by finishing in 2:04.74.
In the 50 freestyle, Sarah Reinink posted the Falcons' sixth win of the day as she edged Oakland's Alyssa Vela by two one-hundredths of a second. Reinink's winning time was 0:24.47.
Bowling Green's relay victory occurred in the 200 medley relay that began the meet. Bennet, Kain, Yu and Reinink combined to finish the swim in 1:46.93. The team defeated Oakland by two seconds.
"It was important for us to get on the road and out of our comfort zone, especially for the freshmen. The girls swam tough, and the freshmen are starting to learn that we need to be able to swim hard no matter how tired and sore we are right now," said Falcons' head coach Petra Martin. "This was good prep for next weekend when we host Ohio and then swim at Ball State on the following day."
Marin also said, "Fremont put on a fantastic meet. We really loved our time there today. The experience was great for all of us and the hospitality was phenomenal. Thank you to those who helped put on and run the meet, and thanks to all the fans that came to see meet. We enjoyed the support of a nice sized crowd."
The Falcons (2-0) host the Ohio Bobcats in their first Mid-American Conference meet of the season st 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28th at Cooper Pool. The team travels to Muncie, Ind. for a 1:00 p.m. meet on the following day against Ball State.
