Chippewas earn a 2-1 win Sunday in Mount Pleasant
The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team snapped Central Michigan University's lengthy shutout streak, but the Falcons were not able to halt the Chippewas' unbeaten streak. Central earned a 2-1 win over BGSU on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 9) at the CMU Soccer Complex.

With the victory, CMU improves to 10-1-3 overall and 4-0-2 in Mid-American Conference play. The Falcons drop to 5-10-0 and 2-4-0, respectively.
Bailey Brandon scored a first-half goal for the hosts, and Jennifer Gassman doubled Central's lead in the 70th minute of the match. Falcon freshman Kenzie Schlemitz scored just three minutes after Gassman's goal, but the Brown and Orange could not get the equalizer.
BGSU's goal broke a shutout streak of 589:53 for the Chippewas. CMU had not surrendered a goal in MAC play this season, prior to Sunday. The Schlemitz goal was the first Central had allowed since a match against Wisconsin nearly a month ago (Sept. 14, 2011).
Senior Megan Amann picked up the assist on Schlemitz's goal.
"We played very well today," said Falcon head coach Andy Richards. We defended well, we scored a goal -- the first Central have conceded in a long, long time -- and we came about as close to beating them today as any MAC team has."
The Chippewas had a 24-10 advantage in total shot attempts, but only a 6-4 edge in shots on goal. Grace Lebrecque made three saves in goal to earn the win for the hosts.
"Their 'keeper made a couple of good saves in the first half when it was still nil-nil," said Richards. "To be frank, I think we were a little unlucky not to get something out of the game today.
"We were undone by what we know Central are good at, a corner and a long throw-in. So, we were a bit disappointed to have conceded the goals in that manner, because we knew they were coming. That being said, they are very good at those types of set pieces, and they had many chances.
"But, I thought we defended very well for the bulk of the game. We looked lively, we were pressing at the end, and we feel a little aggrieved that we didn't get a result. However, it wasn't to be, and now we have to move forward and see if we can get some points on the road next weekend."
For the Falcons, redshirt junior Becca Ison made four saves on the day.
CMU now has a 31-match home unbeaten streak.
The Falcons, as mentioned, will be on the road again next weekend, returning to intra-divisional play with a pair of matches. BGSU will face Akron on Friday evening (Oct. 14) before meeting Ohio Sunday afternoon (Oct. 16).
