Falcons Close Regular Season At Michigan State
February 03, 2011 | Women's Swimming & Diving
The Bowling Green State University swimming team will attempt to finish the 2010-11 regular season with a winning record as they travel on Friday (Feb. 4) to East Lansing, Mich. to take on the Spartans of Michigan State.
The Falcons split a pair of duals against Cleveland State and Toledo last week and are 3-3 for the season. Their victory over Cleveland State came in the team's final home meet of the season and represented the team's best home performance, as BGSU downed the VIkings by the score of 170-124.
Michigan State enters the meet at 3-8 and 0-6 in Big Ten competition. They have faced one Mid-American Conference opponent, Ball State, and the Spartans defeated the Cardinals, 167-125. Most recently, MSU fell to Oakland (199-99) and Michigan (141-93).
The Falcons and Spartans only common competition was the Eastern Michigan Invitational in early December. At that meet, the Falcons took fourth place with 604 points, while Michigan State placed sixth with just 293 points.
The meet will include a traditional slate of 16 events. The event schedule includes the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays, two diving events, the 200 individual medley, and the 100 and 200 yard versions of the backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. The teams will also compete in five freestyle events, including the 1000 free.
The meet begins at 5:00 p.m., and a recap and complete results will be posted after the conclusion of the meet.
