March 23, 2011 | Women's Basketball
WBCA announces top-40 list
Prochaska was named to the list of 52 regional finalists last week, earning that honor for the third consecutive season. Wednesday's announcement marks the second-straight season that she has made the cut to the top-40 list.
Prochaska, a native of Plain City, Ohio, had yet another stellar season for the Falcons, and finishes her career as arguably the top player in program history.
This season, she led the team in scoring with 17.9 points per game, and also had 5.9 rebounds per contest. She finished second on the team in rebounding, assists, steals and blocked shots.
Prochaska was named to the All-Mid-American Conference First Team for the third consecutive year, after earning second-team honors as a freshman in 2007-08. She was named the MAC Player of the Year as both a sophomore and a junior. Earlier this month, Prochaska was named the MAC Tournament's MVP for the second-straight season after helping the Falcons to a second consecutive conference tourney crown.
In early February, Prochaska became the top scorer in school history. She ended her career with 2,290 points, ranking third in MAC history. In addition to points, Prochaska set school records for three-point field goals made (310, second in MAC history), free throws made (626), free-throw percentage (90.6%), games started (135) and consecutive games started (135). Prochaska, who started every game since arriving in Northwest Ohio, finished her career ranked among the top-five players in NCAA Division-I history in free-throw pct.
Prochaska also became just the seventh player in BGSU history to pull down 800 career rebounds, surpassing the mark in the Falcons' MAC Tournament semifinal-round win over Central Michigan. She ended her career with 813 career boards.
Prochaska became the first player in BGSU history to score over 500 points in each of her four seasons. Additionally, she is part of a senior class that has helped the Falcons to a total of 110 wins in their careers to date. BGSU went 110-25 over the last four seasons, the third-highest four-year win total in school – and MAC – history.
The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller won the MAC's East Division, earning a divisional title for the seventh-straight season. After capturing a second consecutive MAC Tournament title, BGSU advanced to the NCAA Championships for the 11th time in program history and the fifth time in the last seven seasons. The Falcons lost a 69-58 decision to Georgia Tech in first-round action on Saturday (March 19) in Columbus, Ohio. BG finished the season with an overall record of 28-5.
The 2011 NCAA Division I State Farm Coaches' All-America Team will be announced on Saturday, April 2, in Indianapolis during the WBCA National Convention, which will be held in conjunction with the 2011 NCAA Women's Final Four.
