Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team has announced its 2011-12 schedule, which includes 15 home games in the program's inaugural season in the Stroh Center.
The Falcons will play seven home non-conference regular season games, which includes three contests as part of the CBE Classic as well as a home game for the ESPN BracketBusters series. Of the 30 total games on the schedule, the Falcons will face a team that played in a postseason tournament 18 times.
Following the Tiffin exhibition game, Bowling Green will host Howard on Friday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m., which will serve as the first regular season basketball game in the Stroh Center. The Falcons will then turn around and head south to face Georgia on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m.
From there, Bowling Green will have more than a week off before playing three games in three days at home for the CBE Classic. The Falcons will face Austin Peay on Monday, Nov. 21, followed by Detroit on Tuesday, Nov. 22. The next day, Bowling Green will face George Washington.
The Falcons will then host Temple on Sunday, Nov. 27 before playing six of their next seven games on the road, beginning with a contest at Western Kentucky on Sunday, Dec. 4. The Falcons will host NAIA Malone three days later before heading on the road to face Valparaiso, Michigan State, Florida International, Duquesne and Texas San Antonio.
After the Texas San Antonio game on New Year's Day, the Falcons will open conference play by hosting Ohio and Akron. Bowling Green will play each team in the MAC East twice and all MAC West teams once, hosting Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, and rival Toledo from the West.
Bowling Green will also host an ESPN BracketBusters game on Feb. 18 and will conclude the regular season at Buffalo on either March 2 or 3.
The Falcons will play six games against teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament a year ago in Georgia, Temple, Michigan State, Texas San Antonio, and Akron twice. The Falcons will face one NIT squad in Kent State and will play four games against College Basketball Invitational (CBI) teams in Austin Peay, Duquesne, and Miami twice.
