BGSU's career scoring leader signs with LKS Siemens
Lauren Prochaska, the leading scorer in Bowling Green State University women's basketball history, will play professionally in Poland. Prochaska has signed with LKS Siemens, a team based in Lodz, Poland. She leaves for Poland today (Friday, Aug. 26).
Prochaska, a native of Plain City, Ohio (Jonathan Alder H.S.), finished her career as arguably the top player in Falcon women's basketball history.
In the 2010-11 season, she led the team in scoring with 17.9 points per game, and also had 5.9 rebounds per contest. She finished second on the team in rebounding, assists, steals and blocked shots.
Prochaska was named to the All-MAC First Team for the third consecutive year, after earning second-team honors as a freshman in 2007-08. She was named the MAC Player of the Year as both a sophomore and a junior. As a senior, Prochaska was named the MAC Tournament's MVP for the second-straight season after helping the Falcons to a second consecutive conference tourney crown.
In early February, Prochaska became the top scorer in school history. She ended her career with 2,290 points, ranking third in MAC history. In addition to points, Prochaska set school records for three-point field goals made (310, second in MAC history), free throws made (626), free-throw percentage (90.6%), games started (135) and consecutive games started (135). Prochaska, who started every game during her time in Northwest Ohio, finished her career ranked among the top-five players in NCAA Division-I history in free-throw pct.
Prochaska also became just the seventh player in BGSU history to pull down 800 career rebounds, surpassing the mark in the Falcons' MAC Tournament semifinal-round win over Central Michigan. She ended her career with 813 career boards.
Prochaska is the first player in BGSU history to have scored over 500 points in each of her four seasons. Additionally, she was part of a senior class that has helped the Falcons to a total of 110 wins in their careers to date. BGSU went 110-25 over the last four seasons, the third-highest four-year win total in school – and MAC – history.
She was signed by the WNBA's Seattle Storm in April, and spent time in camp with the Storm during the 2011 preseason.
Former Mid-American Conference standout Stephanie Raymond will be a teammate of Prochaska's on LKS Siemens. Raymond played collegiately at Northern Illinois University.
