Thomas, Pettigrew Named Papa John's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are basketball player Scott Thomas and track and field start Jeanette Pettigrew
Male Athlete of the Week
Scott Thomas, a senior from Ashley, Ohio, averaged 16.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in two men's basketball games this week. Thomas had nine points, five rebounds, a block and a steal in the team's 56-55 loss to Akron. He followed that up with a season-high 23 points, 21 in the second half, against Kent State Saturday. Against Kent State, he tied a career-high with four three-pointers and added eight rebounds to go with a block and a steal.
Female Athlete of the Week
Jeanette Pettigrew, a junior from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, captured both the 60 and 200 meter dash crowns at the BGSU Opener, helping the Falcons to a third-place finish this weekend. Her time of 7.50 in the 60 edged out a runner from Miami (Ohio) and her time of 24.831 in the 200 was just six thousandths of a second faster than the same competitor.
