CAREER STATS OF 2011-12 FALCONS
STATEMENT RE: CURT MILLER
QUICK HITS
• The Falcons are coming off a 63-52 win at Ball State on Wednesday night (Jan. 25) ... senior Jessica Slagle led the way with a career-high 22 points, and she also set a career standard with five steals ... Slagle added four assists in the victory.
• Redshirt junior Danielle Havel had a well-rounded game for the Falcons in Muncie ... the Indiana native had nine points and nine rebounds, and also had five assists and five steals vs. the Cardinals ... Havel set a new career standard in assists, as well as three-point field goals made (two), and she fell just one rebound and one steal shy of matching her career bests in each of those categories.
• With Havel and Slagle each recording five steals, it's no surprise that the Falcons set a season best in that category ... BGSU's total of 19 steals was the team's highest in over three years, since a 20-steal game against Buffalo on Jan. 21, 2009.
• Havel and Slagle each set another career standard on Wednesday night ... for the first time in their respective careers, both played all 40 minutes of a game.
• Wednesday's Ball State contest was the 500th MAC game in BGSU women's basketball history ... the Falcons are 355-145 in league action over the years, for a winning percentage of 71.0% ... BGSU has the most MAC wins and highest winning percentage of any league program.
• BG, after beginning the season with a pair of losses, has won 17 of the last 18 games ... the Falcons reeled off a seven-game win streak, suffered a two-point loss at Creighton (Dec. 18), and have won 10 consecutive contests since that setback.
• The Falcons' current win streak is BGSU's seventh of 10 games or more since the beginning of the 2005-06 season ... the other MAC teams have combined for three such streaks in during that time ... Ball State had two of those double-digit win streaks ... Miami had the third, with a 10-game streak that was snapped by the Falcons on Thursday.
• Overall, the current streak is the Falcons' 11th double-digit win streak in school history ... the complete list can be found in the PDF version of these notes.
• The 2011-12 campaign marks the third season in a row that the Falcons have had two win streaks of at least seven games ... last season, BG had a 15-game win streak as well as an 11-game streak ... two years ago, the Falcons put together a pair of eight-game streaks ... BGSU had only one such streak in the 2008-09 season ... but, that streak lasted 25 games, a school record, and extended from late November into early March.
• Slagle and fellow senior Maribeth Giese have become the seventh class in school history, and the sixth in a row, to be a part of at least 100 career wins at BGSU ... the Falcons are now 101-20 since that duo arrived on campus in the fall of 2008.
• The Falcons shot 44.9 percent from the field at Ball State Wednesday night, while holding the Cardinals to a 34.5% success rate ... BGSU is now 12-0 this season and 73-0 in the last three-plus seasons when posting a better FG percentage than the opponent ... the Falcons are 28-20 when the opposition has a higher field-goal rate during that time.
• The Falcons have begun MAC action with a 7-0 mark for the fifth time in the last seven years.
• After going with the same starting lineup for the first 10 games of the year, head coach Curt Miller made a change for the Madonna game on Dec. 21, inserting freshman Jasmine Matthews into the lineup ... Matthews has now started each of the last 10 games ... four Falcons – Havel, Slagle, redshirt sophomore Alexis Rogers and junior Chrissy Steffen – each have started all 20 games this season.
• 70 appears to be a magical number for the Falcons, both offensively and defensively ... at the offensive end, BGSU is 11-0 this season when scoring at least 70 points ... the Falcons are 30-0 since the start of last season when reaching the 70-point mark, and BG is 75-1 when scoring 70 over the last three-plus years.
• Defensively, BGSU has not allowed any of this year's 20 opponents to score as many as 70 points ... in fact, the Falcons have allowed 70 or more points in only two of the last 53 games, dating to the start of the 2010-11 campaign ... BGSU still won both of those contests.
• The last team to hang 70 points on the Falcons was Saturday's opponent, Central Michigan ... the Falcons downed the Chippewas in a high-scoring, 80-72 affair in the 2011 MAC Tournament semifinals ... Akron is the only other team to score as many as 70 points against BG since the start of the 2010-11 season, in a 90-72 Falcon victory at Anderson Arena.
