With the win, the Falcons improve to 18-3 overall, and BGSU is a perfect 8-0 in MAC play. BG has won 11 consecutive games, and 18 of 19 contests after dropping the season's first two games.
The Chippewas drop to 12-10 and 4-4, respectively. The loss snapped CMU's 11-game home winning streak against conference foes.
Senior Jessica Slagle scored 19 points to lead four double-digit scorers for the Falcons. Slagle, who had hit a layup late in regulation to give the Falcons a short-lived lead, scored on the opening possession of overtime to give BG the lead for good.
The Falcons led for most of the game. BGSU never trailed in the first 35 minutes, but the Chippewas took the lead with 4:51 on the clock, and two free throws by Taylor Johnson gave the hosts a four-point advantage, 62-58, with 1:57 left in regulation.
BG battled back, scoring six-straight points, including a layup by Slagle that gave the Falcons a 64-62 lead with just 7.9 seconds left. But, Johnson hit a layup at the other end of the court with only 1.6 seconds remaining to send the contest to OT.
In the extra session, Slagle hit a floater on the opening possession, and after BG forced a missed shot by Central, redshirt junior Danielle Havel took a Slagle pass and knocked down a three-pointer, giving the Falcons a 69-64 lead with 4:05 remaining.
The Chippewas got back within two points midway through the period, but junior Chrissy Steffen knocked down a short jumper, and a layup by redshirt sophomore Alexis Rogers gave BG a five-point lead, 74-69, with under a minute remaining.
Steffen and freshman Jasmine Matthews each scored 14 points for the Falcons, while Havel had a double-double, with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Rogers was held to five points, but pulled down 11 boards, including six at the offensive end.
For Matthews, the point total tied her career high. Havel's rebound total set a new career best, and the double-double was her first as a collegian.
Brandie Baker led the Chippewas with 19 points off the bench, while Johnson had 18 points and 10 boards. Jalisa Olive hit double figures in the scoring column, with 11 points for the hosts.
The Falcons got off to a slow start at the offensive end, turning the ball over on three-straight possessions to start the game. At the other end, however, BGSU forced Central to miss shots on three possessions in a row, and when Havel knocked down a three-ball from a Rogers pass, the visitors were on the scoreboard at the 18:25 mark.
Slagle followed with a baseline drive, laying the ball off the glass for a five-point lead. Then, the senior fed Matthews for a three-pointer from the right wing, the Falcons' lead was 8-0. Johnson got the hosts on the board with a jumper prior to the first media timeout of the day.

The Chippewas, however, responded with an 8-0 run. Baker hit a three-pointer during that run, which was capped by Olive's steal and layup at the 6:19 mark. BGSU's lead was just 26-24, as the Falcons called a timeout.
BG responded with four points, as soph Noelle Yoder hit two charity tosses and Rogers grabbed a teammate's miss and laid the ball back up and in.
Kerby Tamm's corner three brought Central back within two points with just over three minutes left before the half, but BG then went on a 7-2 run to end the period. Steffen hit a three-pointer just after Tamm's shot, and after a Baker jumper, Matthews knocked down a triple in the final minute of play. The freshman was fouled with 3.9 seconds left before the break, splitting her two tries to give the Falcons a 38-31 lead.
Baker, playing in her first game since Jan. 5, scored the first four points of the second half, but Havel's long two-pointer gave the Falcons a 40-35 lead at the 16:45 mark. Olive's three-ball, however, cut the lead to two points heading into the first media timeout.
Havel's back-door pass to Steffen resulted in a layup and a foul, as Steffen completed the three-point play with a free throw. Baker answered with another bucket, but Slagle converted a three-point play of her own for a 46-40 lead with 14:20 left.
The hosts scored five points in a row, capped by Jordan LaDuke's 'and-one' layup. The free throw was no good, but Baker got to the line moments later and split two tosses, tying the game at 46-46.
Matthews made two free throws, and sophomore Jill Stein hit a reverse layup. When Havel made a pair of shots from the stripe, BG had a 6-0 run and a six-point lead once again, with 10:13 left.
Central came right back with a Skylar Miller layup and a Baker jumper, before both teams went cold for the next three minutes. Baker, however, hit another shot with 6:08 left, tying the game at 52.
After that make, Slagle fired a long pass ahead to Stein for a quick layup, but the Chppewas got three consecutive points from the free-throw line. The last two came from Niki DiGuilio, giving the hosts their first lead of the game, 55-54, with 4:51 remaining.
Yoder rebounded her own miss, was fouled and made a pair of shots with 4:36 left, but an Olive free throw tied the score just seven seconds later. And, Johnson's driving layup gave Central the lead with 3:52 remaining.
Slagle converted a layup of her own, before Johnson scored to give the Chippewas the lead once again. Steffen was called for an offensive foul, and Johnson got to the line and made a pair of shots, giving CMU a 62-58 edge with 1:57 left.
Matthews answered with two tosses at the 1:43 mark, and the Falcons forced Baker to miss a shot, with the ball going out of bounds off of CMU with 1:33 left. The teams exchanged turnovers during a wild sequence, giving the ball back to the Chippewas. But, LaDuke was whistled for an offensive foul with 1:09 remaining.
Steffen drove the left baseline and hit a driving layup with 57.1 seconds left, drawing LaDuke's fifth foul on the play. The free-throw try was no good, however, and CMU rebounded and called a timeout with 47.3 seconds left.
On the ensuing possession, Olive's layup would not drop, and after Central grabbed the rebound, DiGuilio's three-point try was off the mark. Matthews rebounded the ball for the Brown and Orange, and the Falcons called a timeout with 17.3 seconds left.
Slagle drove and scored with only 7.9 seconds remaining, but the Chippewas got the ball to Johnson, who scored to tie the contest with just 1.6 seconds left.
After the Falcons won the OT jump ball, Slagle's floater with 4:38 on the clock gave BG the lead for good. Johnson missed a shot, with Slagle rebounding, and the senior fed Havel for a three-pointer out top, putting the Falcons up five.
Baker hit a layup, before Slagle split a pair of free throws. Bakter made 1-of-2 tosses at the 2:38 mark, cutting BG's lead to three points, and after she missed the second toss, Miller got the rebound and was fouled. She, too, split her two free throw tries, cutting BG's lead to 70-68.
Steffen blew past her would-be defender and hit a right-side jumper with 2:14 remaining, before the teams exchanged misses. Johnson's free throw with 1:18 on the clock cut BG's lead to 72-69, but Rogers hit a layup with 56.2 seconds left.
BG was called for a foul on the ensuing possession, but Baker missed a pair of tries. Miller came up with the rebound, keeping the ball in the hands of the Chippewas, but Johnson's three-point attempt was no good, and Rogers grabbed the rebound.
Stein was fouled with 29.3 seconds left, hitting a free throw for a 75-69 lead. A jumper and a three-pointer were unsuccessful for the hosts, and Steffen was fouled after coming up with a rebound. DiGuilio fouled her, and the BG junior made both shots with 14 seconds left. Johnson's three-pointer in the final seconds provided the final margin.
