Rogers, a native of West Chester, Ohio, is the second-straight Falcon to be honored by College Sports Madness. Last Monday (Jan. 2), junior Chrissy Steffen was named the site's National High-Major Player of the Week, and also took home MAC P-O-W honors.
Rogers led the Falcons in both scoring and rebounding as BGSU went 2-0 to open MAC play last week. She averaged a double-double, with 21.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, as BG posted wins over Kent State (76-57, Jan. 4) and Akron (62-58, Jan. 7) at the Stroh Center.
Rogers had a double-double in each game last week, giving her three on the season. She had 16 points and 11 rebounds vs. KSU, and exploded for 26 points and 14 boards against UA.
In that Akron game, Rogers set career highs in both points and rebounds, and had a double-double in the second half alone, with 19 points and 10 boards after halftime vs. the Zips. She made 12 of the Falcons' 20 field goals on the day.
On the week, Rogers shot a team-best 54.8 percent, and had 11 offensive rebounds among her 25 total caroms. She also had 2.0 steals, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocked shots per game.
Rogers is averaging 10.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game this season, leading the Falcons in rebounding and ranking second in scoring.
The College Sports Madness site, www.collegesportsmadness.com, names national players of the week at each of three levels (national, high-major and mid-major), and also recognizes a P-O-W from each of 33 NCAA Division-I conferences.
Rogers and the Falcons conclude a three-game homestand with a Thursday (Jan. 12) contest vs. Ohio University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Stroh Center.
