Gymnastics Halloween Update
October 31, 2012 | Gymnastics
The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team continues its progress toward the 2013 season, putting together full routines and polishing skills for the final stretch of the preseason. For a glimpse of the team's upgrades, check out the video below.
The 2013 Falcons look to be much improved on the uneven bars, the squad's weakest event last season. The Falcons boast more depth and difficulty on the apparatus than in previous years, with the addition of three freshmen who are strong on the event - Alyssa Nocella, Caroline Ellingboe and Katrina Carpenter. The Falcons also have more returners training difficult release moves and dismounts than in the past.
October has also seen the gymnasts showing complete floor routines for the first time, throwing full difficulty and working on endurance. Senior Sunny Marchand, who missed last year with an injury, looks to return to competition in 2013 and is progressing well on floor and vault. Several gymnasts are training "E" tumbling passes, helping to make this year's floor line-up one of the most impressive to date.
The Falcons will host five meets in Anderson Arena this season, including the season opener against Ohio State on Jan. 5. Also traveling to Bowling Green are Texas Woman's University, Kent State, Eastern Michigan and Ball State (tri-meet), and Western Michigan.
