Falcons Open Doors to Area Gymnasts
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team will host a gymnastics clinic on Saturday, November 10 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Anderson Arena.
The event gives area gymnasts the unique opportunity to sharpen their skills with instruction from BGSU's gymnasts and coaches. Gymnasts of all ages and abilities are invited to attend.
"It's a fun day where the kids get to interact and be coached by our college gymnasts and all our coaches," said assistant coach Chad Wiest. "We teach them new drills and techniques that they will be able to take away with them and use in their future training. The season is right around the corner and this is a great opportunity for gymnasts in the area to come out and work on the skills in their routines, have fun and be part of the BGSU family!"
Wiest, a former gymnast and Big Ten Champion for the University of Illinois, will help coach the clinic, along with fellow assistant Taylor Jones. Jones is in her first season with the Falcons, after helping the Ohio State Buckeyes to a top-ten finish at last year's NCAA Championships as a gymnast.
"It is always great to be able to coach local gymnasts who are fans of BGSU gymnastics," Jones said. "It's an opportunity for these girls to spend time with collegiate athletes and coaches they look up to, while also learning and having fun."
Also on hand will be BGSU head coach Kerrie Beach - now in her sixth season - and the 2012-13 Falcon gymnasts, who will pitch in their talents as clinic counselors to give back to the Bowling Green community.
A $25 fee will be charged, which includes the cost of lunch for the day. Checks can be made payable to BGSU gymnastics at the door.
