Falcons Lose To Billikens, 6-1

Murfreesboro, Tenn. - The Falcons were unable to string any hits together in a game against the Billikens of Saint Louis Saturday night. The contest was held at Middle Tennessee State's Reese James Jr. Field. The Billikens would jump out to a 2-0 lead after one frame, but the Falcons would come right back with a run of their own in the second. That is all the Falcons would muster, however, in the 6-1 defeat. With the loss, the Falcons' record drops to 0-2 on the season. Saint Louis' record improves to 1-2.
James Norwood went four innings for the Billikens, allowing just one unearned run. He would then hand the ball off to Jerry Mancuso, who went 3.2 innings to pick up the win. Billikens' pitchers did not allow an earned run in the ballgame.
For the Falcons, Ethan McKenney went four innings allowing four earned runs and receiving the loss. He would hand the ball to fifth-year senior Patrick Martin, who went one inning, allowing just one hit. Trevor Blaylock would come on for the sixth, allowing two hits and one earned run. Matt Malewitz pitched the seventh, allowing one earned run on two hits. Jason Link would pitch the eighth inning, where he would only allow one hit.
Logan Walker and Tyler Wynn were the bright spots for the Falcons, collecting five of the eight Falcon hits. Wynn knocked in the only Falcon RBI on the day, scoring Drew Kuns. Kuns had reached on a two-base error to begin the second inning.
For the game, the Falcons collected one run, on eight hits, while commiting one error. For Saint Louis, the Billikens scored six runs, on 13 hits, while committing four errors.
The Falcons will be back in action next weekend, when they take the field in Stillwater, Okla. to face the Cowboys of Oklahoma State.
