The Cardinals captured the doubles point, with a narrow win at the top flight along with a pair of 8-4 victories. At flight number one, the UL duo of Julia Fellerhoff and Manuela Velasquez outlasted Chiricosta and junior Maddy Eccleston, 8-6. The second-flight match saw Mandy Brown and Stefanie Villajuan team up to give the visitors a win over Reuland and junior Mary Hill.
At the third flight, Sarah Miller and Rebecca Shine were victorious over BGSU juniors Katie Grubb and Jade Johnson.
In singles play, Miller picked up a win over Johnson at the fifth flight, and Brown and Shine also posted straight-sets victories for the Cards. Shine topped Eccleston in second-flight action, while Brown bested Hill at the fourth flight.
Two matches went three sets, with each team winning one. At flight number six, UL's Gabrielle Duncan and BGSU senior Jessica Easdale split their first two sets, with narrow margins - Easdale won the first set, 6-4, while Duncan responded with a 7-5 victory. Duncan captured the third-set tiebreaker to win the match.
The third-flight match saw Reuland win a 7-5 decision over Valasquez in the opening set, before the Louisville freshman roared back for a second-set win. The BGSU sophomore, however, emerged victorious in a closely-contested tiebreaker, winning by a 10-8 result.
The final match to conclude came at the top flight, where Chiricosta and Fellerhoff battled through two lengthy sets. Chiricosta won the opening set by a 7-6 result, surrendering just two points in the tiebreaker.
In the second set, the BG soph took a 5-2 lead, saw Fellerhoff come back to tie the match at 5-all, then won back-to-back games to claim the set and the match.
Chiricosta now has a record of 5-1 in dual matches this year, including a 3-1 mark at the number-one flight. Overall, she has a singles record of 14-5 this season.
Reuland is also 5-1 in dual-match singles play this season, with all six matches coming at the third flight. She has a team-best singles record of 16-4, and also leads the Falcons in overall victories, having gone 30-10 in 2011-12.
In only their second seasons at BGSU, Chiricosta and Reuland now have 80 and 70 total wins, respectively.
