Thomas, Slagle Named Papa John's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are basketball players Scott Thomas and Jessica Slagle.
Male Athlete of the Week
Scott Thomas, a senior from Ashley, Ohio, averaged 22.5 points and set new career-highs in points and three-pointers as BGSU split two games. In a win over Morehead State, Thomas had 28 points, making a career-best eight three-pointers, just one shy of the school record. He hit six of those in the first half as BGSU built a 14-point halftime lead. He added four rebounds, four assists, and three steals in the win. In a midweek loss to Ohio, Thomas had 17 points, five rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Female Athlete of the Week
Jessica Slagle, a senior from Sidney, Ohio, averaged 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game as BGSU went 2-0 and clinched at least a tie for the MAC East Division title. She had a team-high 19 points in Wednesday's win over Buffalo and went 6-for-6 at the line in the final minute to clinch the 62-52 win. At Akron, she had 15 points and hit a pair of free-throws in the final seconds to clinch the victory, adding four assists.
