Falcons Perched in Eighth After First Day of Low Country Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Bowling Green State University women's golf team shot a 322 on Sunday (March 25) and find themselves in the middle of a 15-team field after the first 18 of the 36-hole Low Country Intercollegiate. The tournament is being held Hilton Head's Moss Creek Golf Club.
On the par-72 South Course, the Falcons posted a 34-over-par round and trail the tournament leaders, Appalachian State, by nine strokes. BGSU is six strokes behind three teams tied for third place and is two behind the team directly ahead of them in seventh place (Gardner-Webb).
Tournament host Wofford shot a 324 in the first round; they are in ninth place, two strokes behind the Falcons.
Individually, Patricia Holt leads BGSU after carding a 79 on Sunday. It was Holt's third sub-80 round of the season, and she is currently tied for 14th place. Holt is one stroke behind a group of three tied for 11th at 78, while a group of four is tied for seventh with a 77, two strokes ahead of Holt.
Holt is seeking her second top-20 finish of the season, as well as her first career top ten result.
Three Falcons -- Shelby Wilson, Paula DiFrancesco and Amy Ruthenberg -- are tied for 26th place after posting rounds of 81 on Sunday. Wilson shot 41-40, while DiFrancesco and Ruthenberg each had rounds of 40-41.
The trio of Falcons is two strokes behind the group of eight (including Holt) tied for 14th place with 79.
Bailey Arnold ended the first round with an 83 after struggling on the back nine; she will enter the final round tied for 45th place (out of 75 total).
The final round begins on Monday (March 26) with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
