Falcons Tee Off at Robert Kepler Intercollegiate on Saturday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Bowling Green State University men's golf team will strive to make it two victories in a row on Saturday and Sunday (April 14-15) when the team travels to Columbus, Ohio for the 43rd annual Robert Kepler Intercollegiate.
The Falcons won for the second time in the 2011-12 season last weekend when they captured the Rutherford Intercollegiate title with a 54-hole total of 901. A BGSU victory this weekend would give the Falcons their first back-to-back victories since the 2009-10 season.
Parker Hewit will lead the Falcon effort after winning MAC Golfer of the Week thanks to a fourth-place score of 224 (76-76-72). Charlie Olson and Drew Preston are eaching coming off of a tie for 12th place.
To win this weekend will mean defeating a field of 14 other teams, including tournament host Ohio State University. Two other Big Ten schools, Indiana and Northwestern, join OSU in the tournament.
BGSU will also have to compete against five other schools from the Mid-American Conference.
Chief among those is Kent State, who is currently ranked 18th in the country in the GolfWorld/Nike Golf Division I coaches' poll and has been victorious three times this season. Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Ohio and Toledo will also participate this weekend.
The other six teams are: Dayton, Marshall, Southern Methodist, Western Kentucky, Wright State and Xavier.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played at the Ohio State University Golf Club's Scarlet Course. The course has a par of 71 and traverses 7,455 yards. The first 36 holes are scheduled for Saturday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The final round takes place on Sunday and also begins at 8:30 a.m., with tee times from holes 1 and 10.
